Trust me, it’s so, so, so hard to stop listening to music. And since I am so much in love with our prophet, even though I’ve never met him in person, that he died centuries ago, I chose Qur’an recite, shalawat and nasheed as the substitution of the “common” songs/music.

Then again, Muslims taught there is also “shalawat”–pray and praises to Rasulullah Muhammad Salallahu ‘Alaihi Wassalam (pbuh), and nasheed (singing but no music). Still, there is actually no music for Muslim. Alhamdulillah.Īnyways, back to musicless life plan, so I redirected my music preference to Islamic-related. Sami’na wa atho’na (we hear and we obey).Įven though the enemies of Islam tried so hard to turn this upside down and around, but eventually it is Allah Himself saved us from the wrongdoings, by showing us the right way–it calls Hidayah. The prophet (sallah allahu alieh wasalam) said “There will be in my Ummah those who make it halal (permissible) adultery/fornication, silk, alcohol and musical instruments.” Īs an obedient Muslim (wannabe), what ever Allah and Rasulullah required us to do, it will be done. It’s true.Īs it’s said in a hadits, shahih, inshallah: I just need to educate myself to stop listening to music, since it’s actually haram for Muslim. They will be overjoyed and make dua for you.Since the end of Ramadhan, I taught myself to reduce my ears from listening to music. So to say this type nasheed to increase their love is ok. Similarly when we write letters to our loved ones or send them an email or text, we talk in a nice, loving manner. ( she doesn’t really believe that I have a physical form) Allah sent wahy, saying she was only expressing her love for me. “O Allah! Where are you, if you came to my house I would feed you, wash your clothes, comb your hair….” The prophet of the time heard her and reprimanded her. This old lady was sitting, talking to Allah. The nasheed was just an expression of love and therefore ok.

Please bear in mind that many people do not differentiate between the two, that is why the mashaaikh used to say it is better to stick to the attahiyyat and Durood Ibraheemi – which we read in salah.Īre we allowed to send salaams to the other Prophets AS, khalifahs, sahabas?eg Hadhrat Umar Farooq?Īs long as we have the niyyat of the salaams being sent through angels, delivered to the khalifahs etc is this allowed?īecause i was listening to the nasheed ‘umar al farooq’ which says ‘salaam ya umar al farooq’ and it got me thinking. “Surely Allah has appointed some angles who deliver to me the salams of my ummah” There is a hadith which says that salaams are taken by angels who have been appointed for this task. If you don’t have that belief, and instead you go to madinah munawwara and stand in front of the rawdhah mubarakah and say ya nabi Salam alayka or you believe that these words are delivered to the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam, then it is fine. Thus, if you say Ya nabiyy salam alayk and you believe that the prophet (saw) comes to take that salaam, then that is wrong. If you want to give a gift to someone you respect, then you should be going to them, or at least having it delivered to them, not expecting them to come and take it.

This is mentioned in many verses of the Qur’an.Ģ) we see the idea of the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam coming to take salaams as disrespectful. We say that this is not right, for 2 reasons:ġ) only Allah is omnipresent – only Allah can be everywhere and be watching everything at all times. They believe that the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is present and watching wherever the salaams are given That is why many stand up thinking he Sallallahu alayhi wasallam is present. In contrast, some people believe that when they send salaams to the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wasallam with these words, the Prophet Sallallahu alayhi wa sallam comes to the gathering to take the salaam. So why is the first not allowed, when the second is allowed.Īnswer: Saying ya nabiy salam alayka, which is a way of sending salaams to the Prophet (Saw) is allowed as long as you leave it at that. In Salaah, we say السلام عليك أيها النبي (assalamu alaika ayyuhan nabiyyu). Question: Is it true that you cannot you say يا نبي سلام عليك (ya nabiy salam alayka)?
